Well, it’s August now. We’re getting closer and closer to football season, which means one thing:
IT’S GTPDD CONTEST TIME!!!!!!!!!
Last year, we had 50 unique players. About 25 or so played most of the season. This year I’d like to make the contest bigger and better than ever, so we’re revamping it a little bit.
The first couple of changes are fairly simple and just deal with how I disseminate the contest to the world.
First and foremost, I’m starting an email reminder list so that players can be notified when the contest goes live each week. The people requested this, and I am here to provide. This will be a totally opt-in service. You can still put a fake email address in the contest if you don’t want me to sell your data email you prior to each contest.

Another request from #gtpddnation was that players be able to view their answers after submitting them. Apparently y’all were having trouble remembering your answers during the game. So now, I’ve given you the option to receive an email copy of your responses. Just make sure you opt in at the end of each quiz, and you’ll get an email immediately after you hit submit (note: you do have to put in a real email address to use this feature)!
Revamped Contest Format
Okay, so these changes are good, but sort of mundane. You’re probably wondering, “Where’s the revamp I was promised?”
The weekly contests will look, feel, smell, and even taste similar to last year’s contests. The questions will always start out with “who will win” and “how many points” and be followed by 4 statistically driven questions. I’ll be back, better than ever with a wacky bonus question. This year, I’m enlisting the help of gtpdd baseball contest creator Nathan to help come up with some truly bizarre questions for that category.
Although the contest will behave the same way, each week the overall winner will receive a prize! This year’s prizes are custom-made gtpdd stickers. They look very similar to the header image of this post. If you win a single week of the contest, I’ll mail you out your sticker that week, so keep coming back for more! Fun fact: If we had done this last year, we would’ve had a unique winner every week.

Introducing the gtpdd Contest Playoffs!
The “regular season” of the contest will last until Week 10, when Tech takes on Rice at home (November 10). Following that contest, the four players with the most combined points will qualify for the playoffs. For the Week 11 contest, the #1 seed will go against the #4 seed, and the #2 and #3 seeds will match up. The players that score the highest points in their respective matchups will move on to the Championship game! The gtpdd Title will take place during Tech’s Week 12 matchup with Western Kentucky. Also, the playoff editions of the gtpdd contest will be bigger, better, and more bonus-y than ever before, so get ready for that!
The gtpdd Playoffs are a new way to ensure that Daniel Adams doesn’t win for the third straight time there is intrigue at the top of the league for the entirety of the contest. Don’t worry, we’ll still reward the highest scorer, the highest average, etc. over the course of the season.
